New google SMS!!

Nice nice nice!! Google just came out with Google SMS Beta and it's completly free!

If you don't understand what it means, don’t worry. It's very simple. When you send a text message question at GOOGL (46645), you will immediately get a reply from Google with the answer. It’s that simple! For the time being, it only works in the United States and in Canada since Google only came out with the beta version.

Are you wondering how to ask type the correct question to get the right answer? Well, there are different ways to ask the question and still get the answer that you’re looking for.

These are the ways to accuratly find your answer:

- If you’re looking up for a business: you have to write the name of the business and its geographic location (the name of the city)

Example: Pizza Hut Montreal

Blockbuster Montreal

- If you’re looking for driving directions: use any of the following combinations to get the best results.

Address + postal code

Address + city + province

City + province

City (for major metropolis)

Postal code

Airport code (e.g., YVR for Vancouver Airport)

Example: Montreal TO Toronto

1234 elm h3r8g4 TO Quebec

Don’t forget to insert “to” between the start location and the desired destination.

- If you’re looking for the Showtime of a movie that's currently playing at the theatres, simply enter the title of the movie followed by your location (a postal code or city and province).

For a listing of theatres near you and the Showtimes of their top movies, enter 'movie: theatres' or 'movie: Showtime’s' followed by your location.

For a listing of movies playing near you and their theatre location, enter 'movie: movies' or 'movie: films' followed by your location.

For movie details such as running time, genre, movie rating, and critics' rating, simply enter the movie title.

Get local listings in addition to your movie Showtime’s when you type 'theatres' or 'films' followed by your location.

Example: the matrix Montreal

the matrix h3j9f8

- Looking for Questions and answers? With Q&A you can get information on authors, inventors, population and more.

India population

Mark Twain's real name

Who wrote hamlet

- Find definitions: You can use Google SMS to find definitions for a word or phrase on the Web:

Enter 'define' followed by the word or phrase

Or use the shortcut 'D' before the search terms

Google SMS is not case sensitive, so 'D' and 'd' are the same

Example: define martial arts

D algebra

- Search the web: you can find web results by including 'G' before the search term.

Sample queries:

G population San Francisco

g hubble telescope

g thanksgiving day parade

- Translations: Translate a word or simple phrase to any of the following languages French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish from or to English.

Enter 'translate' or the shortcut 'T' followed by the language you want to translate to e.g., 'to french' and the word or simple expression that you want translated

You can also specify the language that you are translating from e.g., 'translate from english to german hello'

example: translate goodbye to Spanish

translate bonjour from French to English

Don't forget the number to message is GOOGL (46645).

Google is not charging any fees presently for the use of this service. But, maybe, someday, this service won’t be free of charge anymore. We still don't know when but I'll try to post when they do. For the time being, your service provider will charge you for each text message sent. It depends if you have a monthly plan that allows you free text messages or if you pay as you go. So make sure that you know if you have a SMS bundle or you get charged for each message sent.

Here is the actual website where you can find all the information www.google.com/sms

Enjoy!
